Well, we started our trip by bagging our first destination. NYC will have to wait for another time. We decided we wanted a little more space in our leaving... and it turned out it rained all day so Ellis Island would have been miserable. The extra day at home was a gift to ourselves. Our first "homeschool" assignment actually went very well!! Erik asked "Can we do this together?" and the kids all worked together very harmoniously researching our route and learning about the weather where we will be. We had a "working" lunch and arrived at our list of family values & had an honest, funny conversation about our obstacles to living these out:
compassion
treat others how you would like to be treated
be open & curious
listen & respond
respect personal space
encourage each other
go with the flow
wellness
create peace
my next task is to devise a highly motivational reward system...

Love this list. I am so excited to follow your journey and I'm taking notes for a future Wilson family trip!

Just for the record, while emily is working in rewards, I will be working on the penalty system. What a couple! - RMJ
