I started the day with a drive to Whiskeytown-Shasta-Trinity National Recreation Area.  I drove around the lake and then relaxed on East Beach.  I had my beach chair with me so I sat on the shore of the lake with my feet in the sand and water while I read the newspaper.  After I continued driving northwest through the park.

I spent the rest of the afternoon driving northwest on 299 until I finally arrived at California's coast.
