I slept in for the first time on my trip.  It was nice to sleep in a comfy bed.

I drove to Santa Monica National Recreation Area.  There I drove along the coast on the Pacific Highway.  In Malibu I got off and walked the Malibu Pier and then on the beach.  I sat on the beach for a while and watched the surfers.  They seemed so serious about their sport.  So many surfers arrived on their own which really showed me their deciation to surfing rather than a pack of friends going together to the beach.













I got back in my car and continued driving the coast.  I stopped and took a 2 mile roundtrip hike in Solstice Canyon.  I had a picnic lunch by a waterfall.














Around 5PM I arrived at McGrath State Park and set up my tent for the night.  In the evening I drove a mile to Ventura Harbor.  I took a walk around the harbor and then had some drinks and snacks at a Greek restaurant.












Back at the park I enjoyed a campfire and ranger program.
