After all of the waiting, I finally left on my trip today.  The first six hours was nothing by flatness and trees followed by flatness and trees and then some flatness.

Late in the day I stopped at Gulf Islands National Seashore between Florida and Alabama.  I wasn't planning on going there (or that I would even be passing by) so it was fun to begin my trip with a spontaneous stop.

After hours of driving it is always fun to get into convoy driving.  This is where some fellow speeders come by and we kind of stick together for hours as we pass everyone else on the highway.  The most desirable spot in the convoy is in the middle so that Joe Officer would pick off the driver in the front or back of the pack first.

At 6:40PM (central time) and 760 miles from home I crossed into Alabama.  I can not believe how long it took to get out of Florida.  In the past i had only driven from south to north, but today I had to drive the entire length of the state and then through the panhandle.

At 7:32PM (central time) and 826 miles from home I crossed into Mississippi.

I finally stopped for the day in Hammond, Louisianna after driving 958 miles.
Good night.
