I thought I would try something different in this travelogue.  Of course when you think back on a trip, you think back on the trip.  Despite all the planning that went in to it, you don't seem to remember that part!  Actually, I try to forget it!  However, it is a vital part of the vacation experience.

Currently all I know is that I am going this summer, and that I want to travel from southern California to Washington State and over to Montana.  I have no idea what date or day of the week I will leave despite that being the #1 question asked.  I also don't know how long I will actually go for.  Finally, I am not certain on how I will get there.  At present, the plan is to drive all the way from southern Florida and then hopefully my car will sprout wings to take me home when I am finished in Montana.  I think this is the plan!

I have done two summer roadtrips on my own in the past.  The first was in 2002 and in the western part of the country (Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Wyoming and South Dakota).  My second solo roadtrip was in northeastern U.S. deom Maine down to Washington D.C.  Both of those trips were very well planned with exact dates and specific reservations at campsites before I ever left.  I was thinking of going a bit more spontaneously this time, but not planning sleeping arrangements, but rather just where I want to go.  Hence my new system of orgainzed spontaneity.  It is so hard to know exactly how longb the drive will take me out west and then how much energy I will have for parks in the beginning and so it is therefore impossible to know specific dates from that point on.  I guess I will need to come to actual dates however because I will need to make arrangements for a boat ride to the Channel Islands off the coast of California and also reservations for white water rafting trips.

I spent today planning the first twelve days.  It has been fun planning, but very time consuming!!
