We left Munich at 12:15PM and via 3 trains arrived in Luzern, Switzerland at 7:30PM.  We got off the train and took a long hike (mostly uphill) with our packs to the hostel, Pension Panorama.  When we arrived the manager showed us the room we had reserved and then explained that he had another room available, but it would be more expensive because it was a suite.  This new room was huge and after all the hostels we had stayed at, this room was like a palace.  It even had a tv!  Best of all was the most incredible view of the lake, church, Mt. Pilatus and city.  We both wanted this room but were afraid of how much more he was going to charge us because the other room was tiny with no amenities and no view.  The man seemed embarrassed to even have to explain it was more and sadly told us the price.  Mike and I did the conversion and couldn't believe after all that it came to less than 10 dollars less than the crummy room.  Needless to say we took it.  I remember this room so well for the manager's sale of it to us, the fact that it had an outrageous view, and for the fact that we were finally viewing a tv and that night every station was going live to John Kennedy Jr.'s  plane crash.
We went for dinner after 10PM and then hung out at a bar called "Movie".
On July 18th we took a one hour boat ride on Lake Luzern.  We saw beautiful houses on the mountains.  From 3-6PM we toured the Swiss Museum of Transport and Communication.  It was very interactive and a ton of fun!
