On July 8th we arrived at Rome at 1:30PM and did our laundry (exciting day!) until 4PM.  We checked into Hostal Panda Pension.  It was very spacious with tiny bathrooms and a cool breeze.  We walked around the city.   We made sure to walk by the Trevi Fountain and explore the area around the famous fountain.
 
We toured the 2000 year-old Pantheon.  It is an incredible building that has a large circular opening in the ceiling and drainage in the original floor.  The 1st and 2nd Kings of Italy and artist Rafael are all buried there.
 
After we made the short walk around the corner to Plaza Nevanya where we had some wine and appetizers.  We walked around the city that night until about midnight.
