Today we flew from Santiago to the Patagonian port city of Puerto Montt.  It was founded by German immigrants in 1853.  We traveled through the countryside of Patagonia to Puerto Varas.  Along the way we stopped for lunch at a German restaurant.  The schnitzel was great and Damian and I tried a few different Chilean German beeras.









We arrived at the hotel in the afternoon.  My room has a terrific view of the lake and mountains.

A little later we all took a walk into town.  Of course the moment we left it rained and it did not stop until we returned to the hotel.  We walked around and viewed some local crafts.  We evern stopped for some hot chocolate and a crepe.













Back at the hotel we sat in bar by the fireplace and overlooking thel ake and mountains.  I played cards with my dad.  At 9:20PM (yes it was still light out!) we went for fdinner.  Damian and I tried a few more different local beers.
















December 18 to Peulla
Left the hotel today at 7:45AM and took a 30 minute bus ride along the lakes and mountains. We stopped at Vincente Perez Rosales National Park and walked around for over an hour. There were some great waterfalls and views of Osorno volcano.










At 11:30AM we left on a cateramaran for a lake crossing of Lago Todos Santos that actually passes through the Andes Mountains. It was a majestic ride with views of Osorno volcano as well as other peaks of the Andes and two other volcanoes. Had some hot chocolate with cognac to keep warm.


















In the afternoon we arrived in Peulla and checked in to Hotel Natura. After a late lunch I took a siesta.






















At 6PM I met up with my parents, Shelley and Damian. We all went ziplining. I was so proud of my parents for doing this! We took a 15 minute hike up a hillside and then up to the first platform. From there there were about 7 platforms that we ziplined from one to the next over a river and the forest down below.




















Back at the hotel we relaxed, played some cards and watched the sunset around 9:30PM and then went for dinner.
