I HAVE BEEN LUCKY IN MY LIFE TO SEE SOME OF THE WORLD'S GREATEST
TREASURES. VISITS TO THE METROPOLITAN MUSEUME IN NEW YORK, THE
LOUVRE IN PARIS AND THE ST. PETERSBURG HERMITAGE HAVE REALLY SHOWED ME A GREAT DEAL.
Some of the lesser known museums I have visited are:
The Ludwig Museum in Cologne contained a great deal of modern art such as Roy Lichtenstein's "Maybe", Andy Warhol's "Brillo Boxes" and George Segal's "Restaurant Window". They had an enormous collection of Picasso pieces.
You'll never believe what the Museu Picasso in Barcelona displayed. Yes, that's right...a massive collection of over 3,500 works by Pablo Picasso. There were many works from the Blue Period, cubism, pottery, paintings of fruit, all kinds of unique paintings of women, and tons of his sketches.
The journey to the Dali Museum in Figueres, Spain was an interesting one. I remember making a long hike up a steep hill. Outside the museum were countless artists displaying their works. It was a fun walk. The museum was terrific and had all kinds of works by Salvador Dali.
In Nice, France, I visited the Chagall Museum which had displays of very large, beautiful, colorful paintings related to Judeo Bible.
HERE IS JUST A SMALL SAMPLIING OF THE ART I HAVE REMEMBERED TO TAKE PICTURES OF ALONG THE WAY:
