I awoke at 5:45AM on Monday morning and reunited with the students and delegation at 7AM. We left Swansea on a long day traveling north on the bus.
After more than four hours traveling north we stopped to Visit the Big Banana for lunch. This landmark was built in 1964 and was the first of the "big things" craze.

After more than four more hours of driving, we stopped at Byron Bay. Had we arrived 20 minutes earlier we would have much better light as the sun was in the latter part of setting. There was a great lighthouse hugging the cliff. The lighthouse at Byron Bay was built in 1901.

After more than an hour drive we arrived at Surfer's Paradise. It was a great area with shops and restaurants located along the ocean. As the name would suggest, this is the place to be for surfing and although I was told it wasn't the season for the biggest waves, they sure looked large to me! We walked along the board walk until we arrived at the Hard Rock for dinner.
