Peru is a magnificent country and I would encourage anyone reading this blog to seriously consider it as a travel destination. It offers everything from gorgeous geography, historical sites, rich cultures, and everything else inside and outside of this too simple of a description. For me, this place touched me in several ways:
1. Although Rowena and I were there for a whopping 11 days (please note my dripping sarcasm), I felt enough of a connection in those few to know that I'll be back to visit the rest of the country or even some of the same places again. It can have that kind of immediate effect on you.
2. The people, animals, environment, and energy that were there is a periodic reminder that not everything we see in the U.S. is how it should be. Traveling internationally does that to people (or at least I hope it does). That is, opens your heart, soul, mind, and body to new perspectives, thoughts, and ideas. Sometimes we tend to live unintentionally in a vacuum, getting stuck in a tiny microcosm of what the world really is.
Before I sign off though, I want to thank my brave, always happy travel partner for putting up with a consciously difficult guy (this is by choice Honey so you're going to have to continually live with it as long as you want to). She provided the energy when things were low, and consistently shined her smile on not just me and our trip, but anyone and anything she came across. Well, except for the Rupa Wasi Hostel mascot. She was scared shitless when that pussy cat of a dog came around. You added to my experience as much as Peru did.
Finally, this ain't the end of anything but another page I'm simply flipping in an eternal book. My sights are already set for Africa.
Forever on the road,
Jeff a.k.a. Heffe
