Part of our tour of Lima was strolling about the city.  We ran into these guys (see first pic).  The middle kid shouted out, "Hello!  Hello!", and I replied with "Hola!  Hola!".  From there, it was an exchange of his broken English versus my broken Montebello influenced Espanol.  I think he got the better of me.

After a few blocks, we ended up in our first Peruvian ruin, Huaca Pucllana.  According to what I can remember, the ruins resided on private property for a long time.  The owner of the property had plans to demolish the ruins and develop the property for real estate.  When those plans were submitted, the government stepped in to preserve the place.  Since then, the ruins have been going through a slow restoration process.  Some of the bricks pictured have been recreated through a semi-automated process; the original bricks have more imperfections to it and are usually found at the bottom portion of the ruins.  Imbedded fingerprints can be found on the older bricks when closely inspected.

The last plan of our Lima tour was to wind down in a small restaurant to tip a few back.  Well that was really for me and not so much for Rowena.

The next day was our flight to Cusco, our entry to our Machu Picchu adventure!
