Lima is the capital and largest city of Peru.  It is home to over one third of the country's population.  This is all according to my trusty Moon Peru guide book.  I'll avoid the extensive history lesson, so if you want to know more, head over to google or wikipedia.

After a decent night's rest, Rowena and I decided to check out the city.  We were staying in the Mira Flores neighborhood which is where most of Peru's yuppies hang out.  I know, not my kinda 'hood but the hostel got some great reviews on the hostelworld.com website so I went for it.

Mira Flores is basically by the beach.  Rowena and I strolled the trail by the beach and ended up in our first restaurant in Peru to try Peru's national drink, Pisco Sour.  Pisco Sour consists of:
- white grape brandy (Pisco)
- fresh lime juice
- egg white
- sugar cane syrup
- ice (optional)

The restaurant made it pretty stiff so after a few good sips, Rowena was done at around 10:30AM.  Yep, we were a bit tossed in the morning.  Way to start the day!
