I've been restless. I haven't been on the road for quite some time. Sure, I've bounced around the U.S. in recent memories having visited friends in California, Louisiana, etc., but international travel is what I long for most. It's that complete transformation of the environment that "excites the soul".
Without much fanfare, the girlfriend and I decided on Peru. Why Peru? It was an easy decision:
1. Cheap airfare. With the worldwide economy being in the toilet somewhat, most people aren't traveling. Great deals can be had most everywhere. So I jumped on line and swept the areas of the world for the most affordable yet still exotic place to go. With the depressed economy AND the over hyped scare of the swine flu virus making headlines in the Americas, along with Peru's airfare cost... that sealed the deal.
2. Machu Pichu. Considered one of the seven new wonders of the world, I was up for crossing it off my list of things to see.
With a click of the mouse, we were set to go.
The flight to Lima went from Monterey Park, CA to Atlanta, GA to Lima, Peru.
