Some pictures from Carnival 2011 - Cuenca. The tradition is to spray foam, water, corn starch and glitter on unsuspecting victims. Can't really say I loved that seeing it was to cold to enjoy walking around wet. The foam also didn't look like a lot of fun for the poor suckers in the parades but the little kids certainly enjoyed themselves.
The fireworks on the Thursday night before Carnival were spectacular - you just gotta love a country without safety rules.....they built a huge tower in the center of the Historical District and lit it up - explosions, twirling firecrackers and every possible spark producing object, including a guy dressed up like a cow....Crazy Cow.....running around with flames shooting from a cage like contraption he was wearing. Sparks, ash and little fireballs raining over everybody.....not a fire truck in sight......then started the foam war.........
Been there, done that.....won't rush back next year for Carnival.....now maybe Rio......
