What does it take to quit your job and leave all your friends and loved ones behind? The realization that life is short and sometimes it's worth the risk to take the road less traveled. I'm lucky enough to be one of those that took that chance, and this life will be forever changed. Today I leave all the things I know and am behind to begin the journey of a lifetime. It's the start of an adventure, a journey, a quest in search of myself in the places and faces of the wide open world. There are many motivations and complexities to the reason for these travels. In this blog, my heart, my soul, my eyes will all be laid bare.
Everything I feel, see, touch and experience revealed in the most sincere and honest way I can hope to express them. To all those joining me along the way, through my pictures and words, thank you for your support and gestures of encouragement. I hope to return a better human being, with a greater knowledge about myself and the world around me. A good friend sent me this quote the other day and I thought it appropriate for what lay ahead:
“Adventure is a path. Real adventure – self-determined, self-motivated, often risky – forces you to have firsthand encounters with the world. The world the way it is, not the way you imagine it. Your body will collide with the earth and you will bear witness. In this way you will be compelled to grapple with the limitless kindness and bottomless cruelty of humankind – and perhaps realize that you yourself are capable of both. This will change you. Nothing will ever again be black-and-white.” – Mark Jenkins
Today I leave for the journey of a lifetime, and nothing will ever be the same again.
