Where I stayed
Initially I stayed in a really nice friendly hostel called The Pink House in the infamous Kings Cross. It was off the main drag so I wasn't subjected to the local riff raff and as it was quite a small hostel I got to meet some really nice people.
I've been doing freelance graphic design work which has gone really well. Its been great to experience how the different companies work and also to try new areas of work. I spent the last few months working in a large advertising and marketing agency and really enjoyed being involved in different types of projects for real estate, auto and financial clients. The people are also really nice and even gave me a present when I was leaving
I've met loads of people and have made some really good friends. I'll be sad to leave them behind! Check out the photos to see a few of my new Sydneysider buddies!
After a while in the hostel I moved into a lovely terrace house in Surry Hills, which is a really nice area, quite central and walking distance to work and has lots of nice pubs and restaurants. Its also walking distance to Oxford street which is a lively spot! I've been living with two Aussie blokes, Don and Daniel, who are from up the coast near Byron Bay. Its been fun to hear the Aussie perspective on things (sport mainly) and brush up on the local lingo!
Its summer here now so the weather is (mostly) nice although being Sydney we get sporadic rainfall and thunder showers. Theres lots to do in the city, especially at this time of year. I'm down to Melbourne for a week for the Christmas holidays to catch up with the rellies again so its nice to see the city again. I'll be in Sydney for the New Years Eve celebrations and the firwork display which should be great - I'll upload the pics!
