This week I finally joined a student nation. I joined Ostgota, Lund University's oldest nation and was established in 1668. It's a smaller nation but I have always had a lot of fun when I go there so why not.

Anyways, with school over on Tuesday I laid around during the week anticipating the fun that was to be had. I still have this nagging cold, or some sort of sinus infection that won't go away... but I guess the staying out late and abusing my body doesn't help the recovery process. Wednesday night myself, Blake (an American grad student from UW) and two British friends, Tom and Derek, went to Gloria's. Gloria's is a sports bar where we have been going to watch soccer matches and with the champions league starting up here we decided to go waste money on ten dollar beers and mediocre burgers.   We watched an Arsenal game and it was a good way to spend a weekday night. The ride home in the pouring rain was not as good though. Since southern Sweden is really flat and with the high winds the weather changes faster than a schizophrenics personality when they are off their meds.

Friday night was one of the more fun nights here. Every so often the AF Borgen, essentially our student union, throws big parties inside. The building itself looks like a castle so who wouldn't want to throw down in a castle. A Swedish corridor mate of mine had a bunch of friends in town that he knew from his travels in California so we had a decent sized pre-party in our corridor prior to the big one. It was a fun mix of people and probably was the first time I have been at a party here where there's just as many Americans as Swedes. It was an expensive cover to get into the party but well worth it. Inside there were two main dance areas each with there own bar. In the larger dance area a Swedish rapper/hip hop group performed. It turns out that the universal way to act cool and dance at a hip hop concert is to just "throw you're hands in the air like you just don't care".... I eventually saw some Germans I knew and hung out with them for the remainder of the night.

Saturday night I had Blake and Derek over to my place where we did some pre drinking and watched a little standup comedy. Around midnight we headed over to a nation called Sydskanska that was suppose to be having a fun rock DJ at their club. We met up with Blakes Swedish friend Bjorn and luckily there was no line. It was a fun club and from my experience so far I figure it'll be the first and last time I would hear Nirvana at one of these places. We had a good night but almost some of the most fun was just in the people watching.   I believe "people watching" is one of the best pastimes ever. Our favorite at this club was a particularly drunk Swede who went up to every girl at the club at least once to hit on. His tactics involved introducing himself, followed by a brief dance session and roughly 5 minutes into the blossoming relationship he would move in for the kiss. Unfortunately for him his tactics didn't pan out to well but I'm sure all the sexual assault charges will remind him of all the good times he had.

Signing off for now... cheers and have a good one!

p.s.- What the fucks wrong with the OSU quarterback throwing 5 ints. I leave and this is the shit that happens?
