Woke up to pouring rain but as Lady Luck has been happily by our side, the rain stopped just as we were getting on the Royal Yacht Britannia. Yes it's permanently docked in Edinburgh harbour and is open to the public. It just so happened that they were celebrating the yacht's 60th anniversary, so we were very privileged to be there for this special celebration. Had a good look around and took lots of photos and then had Tea in the tea rooms on the upper deck! It doesn't get better than that: Victoria sponge, scones, cakes and tea. Then we were treated to a tot of rum and and a little cake decorated with the Union Jack made out of icing!!!! In the sailors bar. By this time we were over Royalty and started the trip to Blairgowrie via Falkirk where we stopped to see and experience one of Scotland's most unique attractions the Falkirk Wheel. The Falkirk wheel acts as a gate way to Scotland's lowland canal network and is the place where the Forth and Clyde canal meets the union canal.  It's an awe inspiring structure which rise 35 m into the air and we got to go in a boat which sailed into it and were elevated 35m to then sail into the upper canal. It replaced 8 locks which used to take up to a day to navigate. Now because of the wheel it takes 15 mins. For those interested in amazing engineering structures, a search in google is a must! It truly is awesome.
Having done all that, we took a leisurely drive up to Blairgowrie and our home for the next few days. Arrived in time for dinner and after a short break made our way to a lovely restaurant where we had a young waitress who heard we were Australians and couldn't get enough of us. Wanted to practice her Australian as she had been down under recently. A good and funny night was had by all. And so the end of another lovely day in Scotland .
