We wake up early with the intension to get to Sorrento to catch an early ferry to Capri. Unfortunately unable to find the hidden metro line we get into Sorrento later than expected but make to Capri. We hire a scooter for the day (the best way, the only way to see this beautiful island) and explore..
Highlights:
1-An amazing grotto (cave) called the Blue grotto, A tiny entrance to this cave only by boat means the six people cramped into this tiny row boat all have to lie horizontally to get inside...but once inside WOW!!!!! Complete darkness except for the deep aquamarine glowing light that illuminates from the entrance
2- We find a local swimming hole and spend time exploring the rocks in the water.
3- Cafe Freddo Slush, a cold espresso with crushed ice, a great way to have a coffee boost in the heat
4- A chairlift to the highest point of Capri gives a lovely view.
5- Catching a local bus about ½ the size of a normal bus but with the same amount of people. Cramped into a sardine can, thinking no more people could possible fit on, and at a stop two Italian women get on even with the protest of the passengers.
Finishing the night in Sorrento, we grab our first Italian pizza and sit on the steps of the town and watch the town wander by.
