We took an amazing train from Paris to Lyon - a double decker at that! When we arrived in Lyon we were a little put off by the lackage of directions to our hotel and had to spend a while looking on the map in the train station to figure out how to get there. 3 Metro lines later and a walk through another train station, we found it. it was ghetto looking from the start. We checked into our hotel and were suprised at how nice it actually was. Things were looking up! we had our own bathroom this time. woohoo.

now we needed some lunch. this didn't look to be a problem seeing as there were some nice places right outside our hotel. we kept walking thinking we'd find something else. we found a grocery store (score!) and bought some stuff there. they made you pay for bags so we just carried it and went in search of a park we saw on the map that we got from the hotel. let me tell you now that there is no such a park where we were. we walked for a really long time and all of a sudden smelled something really nasty. we then passed by some empty storage garages where a bum villiage now was and walked quickly as they stared at the food we were carrying. we then realized that the park didn't exist and turned back, this time walking on the other side of the street. As we walked down this side, we passed some lovely prostitues and realized that hiding in our hotel might be a good option seeing as the day was pretty much over, we were exhausted and the metro was expensive to get back to the nice part of town. so that's what we did. we hid and rested.

we did try to look around a little later on but again were a little afraid for our lives and our camera so we went back and had an early night seeing as we needed to rest up for tomorrow's travel day.

see attached picture for scary building.
