Sleepy Sams has it's own internet cafe (well two PC's connected to the internet), and better still wireless connectivity for all guests. I hadn't realised how much I had depended on my trusty notebook PC, and it's ability to connect to the internet wirelessly until it broke down. Firstly, it started slowing down then crashing, and finally wouldn't re-boot. At fist I thought it was the heat but then realised it was more serious.

This was the first time all trip I hit a mental low - I was in a shitty mood, and you can't imagine my relief when I found out that Acer had a main office in Singapore and better still a repair department. I headed out of the city by metro and map in hand (didn't make any difference - still got lost) located the repair department. After a short wait the engineer diagnosed the problem with the main board and asked me to come back in two hours. Hopeful they wouldn't wipe my had drive which would make my notebook as useful as a chocolate teapot, I went to a local mall.

The mall had the usual shops; clothes, electrical, music, and plenty of restaurants. As I couldn't buy much due to lack of space in my rucksack, it wasn't of huge interest, but a unique barbers (Haircut in 10 minutes for 10 dollars) took my interest. I had nothing to lose, my hair was getting a bit shaggy and no one I met would worry if it was a good cut or not. I dropped in and 10 minutes later and a few pounds of hair and 10 dollars later emerged, fairly happy with the result.

Having picked up my completely repaired notebook I headed back to Sleepy Sams. The metro ran overland until nearing the city and I was impressed with the open spaces and un-cramped municipalities that make up Singapore. I am sure there are some, but I saw no areas of poverty, everything looked clean and well maintained.

With the day over I headed to The Asia bar on the 71st floor of the Swiss Hotel, with a small group of friends. The views from the bar are spectacular, and drinks are half price before 9.00pm. We dined in the restaurant on the 69th floor, and enjoyed an excellent meal, with stunning views and at a great price.
