Today marks the end of our two-month long trip. Eugine and I woke up at 4:30am to catch our 6:30am flight. We were originally supposed to fly out at 9am on Garuda Airlines but due to their sophisticated yield management program (i.e. cancel flights), our 9am flight was cancelled and we were put on the 6:30am. There are later flights but today marks the end of a week-long holiday season in Indonesia and the afternoon flights were all booked.
We arrived in Jakarta at 7am after a two-hour flight (there is a one hour difference between Bali and Jakarta). Eugine and I decided to see if we can catch an early flight to Singapore (our original flight time to Singapore was 8:30pm) since the Singapore airport is nicer than Jakarta's. To our surprise, Eugine's flights were all confirmed while mine were cancelled, despite us having reconfirmed our flight twice! So here we go again with the unprofessional, unpleasant, and outright sh*tty service at Singapore Airlines. After arguing with the clerks for half an hour, we were able to reinstate our reservation and flew out of Jakarta and 10:30am. So this marks by fourth time flying Singapore and it also marks the fourth time I had major issues with this airline. I wrote about this before but Singapore Airlines is truly the WORST AIRLINE IN THE WORLD. It is very hard to disappoint four times in a row and Singapore Airlines managed to do it.
Eugine and I had been excited about the prospects of buying genuine Polo shirts as for some reason, Polo shirts only cost around $15. I think it's because Polo has a manufacturing plant here. These shirts are sold in real Polo stores too! I was planning on buying a few for myself and my brother. However, we were shocked when the prices in the international section of the airport were twice as high. Feeling robbed, I didn't buy any. I definitely regretted not buying them in Bali.
