After the grafitti on Monday night, July 13, I went with several of my classmates to a tavern called Vienes. I had a great time enjoying the company and conversation with my American friends from the ISEP program. The next morning, Tuesday, July 14, I had to wake up early for my classes. I went home for lunch and then back to the university for my other class. After class, David, Grant, Crystal and I went to the Feria Artesania in Vina del Mar. There were many many booths set up with handcrafted items, jewelry, and other souvenir type items. I bought a couple items but didn't feel like shopping for long. I was looking forward to going home because Jenny was there making panqueques and watching Antonia and her friend while Margarita took her mother to the doctor and Oscar was working. I worked on homework until Once. Jenny's homemade panqueques were very delicious! They taste kind of like crepes with a thick caramel on the inside - mmm...mmm! After eating and sharing conversation with the family, I played the Wii with Antonia, Jenny, and Pablo.
The next day, Wednesday, July 15, I went to my both my classes, walked out to the sea to eat lunch with Annette and Grant (friends from my classes), and attended a meeting about our excursion to Cajon de Maipo (on Thursday and Friday). During my chilean culture and conversation class in the afternoon, my teacher thought I had been drinking before class because I couldn't stop laughing. This laughter was not my fault, however. My classmate, Matt, kept saying random things that were very funny. It didn't help matters that he kept a straight face so nobody else in the class knew that he was the one making me laugh. What a jerk! haha! I did regain my composure once class time finally started. After class, I went home to rest a bit, and then my Intercambio Idiomas group (which consisted of Fernanda, Crystal, David, and I on that night) met up at 6 PM to head over to Renaca to walk along the beach and eat some food. Even though it was dark when we arrived to Renaca, it was still beautiful. The lights of Valparaiso and Vina del Mar twinkled in the moonlight while we walked in the sand listening to the crashing waves coming closer and closer to us. I decided that it would be a great idea to go touch the water. I can now say that I have touched the Pacific Ocean! The first time I went out to touch the water, I went in a little too far and couldn't run fast enough to escape the huge wave that was coming in - haha! The bottom of my pants and my boots got soaked! We all had a good laugh about that and kept walking as far as we could. After our walk on the beach, we began walking along the street to find a good restaurant. We finally decided to stop at a Peruvian restaurant. It was very tasty - a little more spicy than Chilean food. We got back around 10 PM, and I was supposed to go out to Cafe Journal (a bar/dance club) with my chilean friend that I met through my brother Oscar. I had to tell her no because I was way too tired from all that walking and had to wake up early for my trip to Cajon de Maipo!
