Day 8 Travel to Jaipur
Heavy rain last night and earlier this morning, so as the company had booked us on one more safari (ie we had already paid!) there was nothing for it but to get into the jeep beside some travellers from other resorts sitting resignedly in their rain ponchos! As we had been lucky with a sighting yesterday it didn't matter to us that the tigers were obviously taking shelter this morning! We did see 2 Mongooses though (or is it Mongeese???) We had some lovely views of Kingfishers - 2 different kinds - but otherwise it was just the more common birds and mammals we had seen before.
Then it was checkout time and Veero collected us and drove us for about 4 hours to Jaipur where we checked in at the Shahpura House hotel. Lovely Indian Colonial style rooms and furniture this time - even a 4 poster bed!
Jaipur is known for its Jewellery and textiles industry. So we asked Veero to show us a few shops that would give us a better price than the ones suggested by the Tour guides (its all about commission deals at the end of the day!) - so we ended up seeing how gem stones are cut and polished and set into silver and gold - and then we had great fun in a textiles shop where we selected fabric and ordered a few holiday clothes to be made up for us!
Next we went to a great open air restaurant called "Durg" where we had gorgeous Tandoori chicken and lamb whilst being entertained by Rajasthani dancers. At one point the girl had me up dancing with her! Great fun, but I was thankful nobody knew me! Mick says he's holding the video he took as a means of blackmail!

Hi your accomodation looks lovely are you sure you haven't shares in this company, you are also doing great publicity for the local entertainment and tourist attractions . Well done you for being game to get up and try the local dancing, I'm sure they were pleased you were prepared to join in, shame ythey could not persuade Mick also. I'm sure we would all love to see the video clips some time but you can always hold off until others are prepared to show something which could be less than professional of themselves ! Are you getting the comments we send and are you having a growing following that this new book to be released later this year are having a preview of? Looking forward to the next installments .
