This morning we set off on foot for the India Gate. It took a bit longer than we thought, as there has been little planning for pedestrians! Pavements have high kerbs and are generally unfinished obstacle courses. Crossing the roads means dicing with death - few vehicles stop even if you are on a pedestrian crossing! Added to that are the countless helpful? folk wanting to know where you are going and wanting to direct you to very reputable craft emporia or tourist information offices! The India gate was definitely worth seeing close up - modelled on the Arc de Triomphe and with a colourful floral display around the base. Lots of "tat" sellers - from pingy elastic toys to cigarette water pipe things!
Numerous school trips here too.
Next we made our way to the Purana Qila - an ancient fort built by Afghan ruler Sher Shan In the 1500s. Built of red sandstone like most of the Delhi sights - and in remarkable condition.
We had been on our feet for hours by then so we gratefully flagged down a tuktuk and headed to Connaught Square for a cool drink. Lots more touts there though!
Now relaxing by pool at hotel again!

Hi. I wonder what the girl in the pink skirt was doing? I thought at first the dogs were dead then I realised they were sleeping in the shade as life carried on. No photos of your hotel yet but street scenes good flavour.

I think there is not much planning for pedestrians because rich people don't walk they go by car. There is little provision for the ordinary people based on my knowledge of Pakistan. Perhaps I am being harsh they have other priorities.
