Where I stayed
Great breakfast at the hotel - everything available from Porridge to noodles! Lots of different breads like Chapati, Puri, as well as croissants and toast!
Our guide Vikos met us and brought us on another Chauffeur driven tour - this time around Old Delhi.
Visited the largest mosque in India the Muji Masjid. I was a bit worried about having to leave my brand new Fitflop sandals outside - but luckily they were still there when we emerged!
They made all the women don huge flowery robes!
According to Vikos on some holy days as many as 25000 people gather here. We peered through a grill at a structure reputed to house relics from Mohammed including a hair of his red beard, and a marble footprint.
All life is on the road side. Everything you can imagine for sale - both new and second hand. Muslim districts different from Hindu districts with goats tethered and chickens caged.
There's so much to take in - sights, sounds and smells (good and bad!)
Then it was off to th Rajghat - a memorial park for famous dignitaries. We saw the spot where Gandhi was cremated the day after his assassination. A black marble slab with flowers and an eternal flame. (We did drive to the house where the assassination took place but it wasn't open to the public today.)
So now we're back relaxing by the hotel pool to do some reading!
