Back to the tow path after a great Christmas break. We had a family Christmas day, whilst Dennis and David spent a stormy few days at Bridlington.
The weather decided to keep tags on D&D, and make them feel at home with a very blustery day. We had to keep clear of the edge, just in case we were blown in the canal by some of the big gusts.
We started from the Anchor (poor service place) and after 10 mins Dave remembered that he had left his car keys in Dennis's car and had to run back for them, otherwise we would have arrived at the finish to find a car waiting and no keys to get in.
Today was really and uneventful day which took us through Skipton, where we stopped for lunch.
Can the mathematicians among you explain how one piece of bread thrown into the canal, brings swans, ducks, pigeons and every other bird in the area to try and get a bite?
We passed a mile stone showing we were 99 miles from Liverpool, we looked for the 100 mile sign, but someone must have fancied it for their garden as it completely missing.
About a mile before we finished today's walk, we found a memorial to some Polish airmen, who had died when their plane crashed in the area during the war (they were on our side).
Finished off today with a quick drink in the White Lion in Kildwick, looks a great place for pub grub, we must try it out in the near future.
It may be my imagination, but now we are in familiar country, the 10 miles seems to pass much quicker.
Here's to another 10 miles tomorrow.
