October 12 2010. Yet another early start! On the way to the airport, we passed lots of children making their way to school on various modes of transport – some had even hitched a ride in the bucket of a JCB bulldozer! Once there, and after a short wait for security to open, we
were soon out with the 'plane getting it ready for the hop to Patna. Away by 1030 with just the handler, Mr Dhara, to see us off. Another hazy flight, our direct routing to Patna with the Ganges wiggling beneath us. Once on the ground in Patna, we could see the VIP aircraft that had parked next to us in Delhi.  The guys were just about to leave for guess where, Bagdogra – same as us. They gave a wave as they taxied out.

Our stop at Patna, which was just to refuel and get out clearances, should have been quite short.  Patrick went off to pay ATC fees and left me to oversee the refuelling, helped by two young
engineers from the flying club – our handlers. The refuelling was accomplished without any delay.  However, the clearances did take almost1.5 hrs to come through following numerous 'phone calls.
