Today we are in Cody, WY, heading through Yellowstone National Park for Grand Teton N.P. We spent yesterday driving around in Yellowstone, and after all that we've seen it was kind of disappointing. The place is huge (Rhode Island or Delaware would easily fit within its borders), so the fact that there's so much of it and everything is so spread out may have led to the feeling that there wasn't much to see. When we arrived at Mammoth Hot Springs, there was no water there, so it was just a sulfur-smelling barren waste - the photos I've seen of it when the water's running are gorgeous, though! We saw a few animals along the way, and at one point we even started our own "animal jam" when we stopped to look at a coyote in a roadside meadow. Within a few minutes, about 20 cars we pulled over along the sides of the narrow road, causing a typical N.P. traffic jam.

Today we're headed to Grand Teton N.P., the one I think I've been looking forward to the most since we started this trip. It's reputed to be one of the most beautiful Parks in the country, but after all we've seen that will be a tough claim to prove!

Our current plan has us arriving back in NJ next week - I think we're going to just blast right across the country from WY, starting tomorrow or the next day and driving the interstates all the way back.

Maybe when I get back I'll go into more detail about the "Great Northern Sidetrip" through Canada & Alaska and post some of the awesome photos I've taken along the way. Until then, I'll just update the map pins on the website so you can get an idea of where we've been so far...
