I flew into Guadalajara and met an Aussi girl at my hostel. She was visiting friends there and they took us to Tlaquepaque for some drinks and something to eat. Tlaquepaque is a neat neighborhood with quite a few nice restaurants, some of them frequently have Mariachis taking song requests.

After a few days in Guad she invited me to come to Puerto Vallarta with her, and a Canadian girl in our hostel came along for a few days too. We hung out in Puerto Vallarta for around 3 days and then moved down the coast to a small beach town I'd been to the last time I was in Mexico, Melaque. A small, laid back town was a nice change from Puerto Vallarta. Melaque is very close to Barra de Navidad so we went over there for some lunch and walked back along the beach. I definitely prefer a smaller beach town to the big resort cities like PV. I had planned on staying with some friends in Morelia, where I had spent a quarter in college. I convinced my new Aussi friend to come along. Our last night was spent at a bar where I forgot that I had no longer had any tolerance for Tequila, several people bought me shots and the next day our long bus ride to Morelia via Guadalajara was agonizing.
