What I did
Wandered round Visby and relaxed in the sun

1pm Saturday – on the jogging track – on a sunbed – heaving by the pool as it is sunny – well heaving for Silversea anyway!

Ship berthed out at sea as too windy to dock in Visby harbour – had a lovely view of the pilot arriving and the tenders going to and from the harbour with the first of the day trippers.

Took the tender into town, and walked around what is probably a lovely holiday town, but on a sunny Saturday morning, it was deserted, that and the fact that I forgot to take my Swedish money with me, meant I had a walk around and then back on the tender. Nice buildings and a walled town, very popular with Swedes from the mainland apparently. Lots of concrete sheep – you'll have to wait for the photos – limiting upload to words tonight – only got 55 mins worth of internet to last till Weds!

Woke early – nothing to do with the alcohol drunk last night! Had to order morning cup of tea at 5.45 as hour has gone back again as we are back in Swedish waters and only 1 hour ahead of British time – and I had ordered breakfast for 7.30 – and I would have died of thirst by then!

So tea arrived promptly, and then breakfast, brought by not one, but TWO butlers – don’t know why! Still not as good as Rayan who makes my tea for me! I now order muffins for breakfast and keep them for teatime, as I prefer them at tea time, and not breakfast – I am sure they would get some for me at teatime if I asked!

Am sitting on the top deck, out of reach of the usual bar staff, but within 10 mins, I had a little Pilipino (not a spelling mistake, they cant say 'F’ or ‘V’ words - do you remember ‘he’s alibe’ after the man overboard on Ruby Princess Fiona?!) at my side taking a drinks order, and some Nachos which he brought without asking!

I tell you what Margaret, if you ever feel like booking a cruise, forget Princess, spend a bit more of the kids’ inheritance (sorry Lucy and Emma!) and come on Silversea – you would LOVE it!  Even though I am in the lowest deck of cabins, there is hardly any movement, and there is so much space, and the bathroom is bigger than mine at home! And as for the all inclusiveness – and the service, nothing is too much trouble – they literally dance attention on you – and they all know my name by now.

I think the Mediterranean would suit me if I ever managed to save enough for another one, I think the Caribbean would be a bit frustrating without a balcony.

We’re off! Sailing towards Copenhagen now – quite windy up here, but nice.

My goodness, they are moving furniture again for people – even spreading the towels out for them! I did my own – there are limits – but some people just stand like lemons until someone comes to their aid.  Idiot saying of the day – on the tender into town  - ‘hey honey look at that ship out there’ ,’its ours babe’ ‘is it, it kinda looks different from here, are ya sure?’ – there wasn’t another bloody cruise ship for miles – what are they??!! (sorry about the swearing Fiona!)

Going to sign off now – got  a book from the library (- another star!) a new Pern book, written by Anne McCaffrey’s son.

10.09 pm – wow – late. Had a nice couple of hours up on the top deck, had the Cruise Director and Restaurant manager for company as well as Hotel director checking his waiters had found me! Two beers and a toasted panini later I was ready for a snooze and fell asleep in the cabin for 2 hours!

Tonight was at Flavio the Guest relations man’s table for dinner with a very elegant lady from just outside Paris, who once again sounded as if she had never left Surrey! There is definitely a class of English people who live abroad, but who never sound foreign! She was with her rather elegant granddaughter who lives in Hamburg but is studying Tourism in Antibes in the south of France and has just finishes an internship with the Four Seasons Hotel group! Hardly work experience in Swansea Marriott!  Lovely dinner again, worth seeing the face of Mrs Show off from Dorset from the bus from the airport, who was NOT at an officer’s table despite the fact that she has been on ‘lots’ of SS cruises – obviously not enough! They can yah yah all they like, sometimes connections count! I smiled elegantly at them as I passed their table on the arm of my host!

So in bed now, will try and send this from the cabin, although signal not strong down here. Copenhagen tomorrow, so looking forward to a hop on hop off tour I think.,

 Night night all!

Loved the thought of you strolling through the dining room on arm of host smiling at everybody as you walk past! Sounds like a good day. Glad weather is better - its rubbish here! Keep the blogs coming.
