So after Paris we caught a train to Lucerne in Switzerland. Switzerland has to be the most picturesque place I've ever seen in my life, and keep in mind that the photos don't do this place justice. We got there in the afternoon, and dropped our bags at the Hostel, we caught a taxi because it's always the easiest option, and the five minute trip cost about $22 Aussie. After we checked in to the Hostel we walked around the small town and did a bit of shopping, went into some awesome chocolate shops and tried to stop ourselves from buying too much. We walked down to Lake Lucerne and took a few photos of Chapel Bridge and the Water Tower (2 of Lucerne's most famous icons), then had dinner at a highly recommended Swiss Restaurant. I had a nice Swiss dish of macaroni & cheese with potatoes and apple sauce - sounds a bit gross but tasted good, and Erik tried to be a little bit daring and ordered some Veal Weiner dish. It came out as 2 pale looking sausages in hot water, with nothing else but a pretzel and mustard. Erik has a weak stomach and spent half the night on the toilet, haha!
After a decent night of sleep for the rest of us, we went and saw the Lion Monument (another icon Lucerne is famous for) which is carved out of rock. It has a knife sticking in it's back and face is screwed up in pain - it commemorates the Swiss Guards who were massacred in 1792 while defending Marie Antoinette in the French Revolution.
We actually had breakfast at a Starbucks because we wanted a decent cappuccino. A standard size coffee cost $6.50 Aussie. Everything in Switzerland is very expensive.
We hired a little boat and motored around Lake Lucerne. Dared Jonny to dive into the icy cold waters of the lake and Jonny being typical Jonny who "loves experiencing things" did it!
We went to another restaurant on a boat for dinner. Erik and Jonny shared a cheese fondue, and once again Erik had to use the toilet alot that night.
