Where I stayed
We got into Amsterdam on "Orange Day" which is the biggest Holiday of the year for Amsterdam, they celebrate the Queens Birthday and the whole city dresses up in orange and goes mental! The streets were a sea of rubbish with lots of street parties going strong!
After we dropped our bags at the Hostel, we went for a walk to find some dinner and ended up at a Shawarma type of place (yiros/kebabs etc). We were fairly knackered so just went to bed.
We were sharing our Hostel room with 2 other guys - one was a 30 yr old Columbian who was pretty much normal - the other would've been around 40 (Asian) and from Liverpool in England - he was so annoying, talked so much and didn't stop complaining about how expensive everything was!
We didn't realise that it would be only about 10 degrees in A'dam, we were so cold with the wind and realised that everyone seems to get around on bikes so we walked into town to 'Mike's Bikes' and then rode around town to warm up a bit. We went to the Anne Frank House, which is where Anne and her family hid out during the war before getting captured (unfortunately wasn't allowed to take any photos). We then stumbled across a red light district of the city (also not allowed any photos, sorry twins), and that was a bit of an eye opener! We did a proper walk around the red light district that night, and once was enough! It's unreal.
Jonny and Erik did a tour of the Heineken Factory on our last day in Amsterdam. We got up before 6, then caught the next train to Paris, and spent a few hours in Brussels on the way - not much to say about Brussells, other than I found it quite boring and the people pretty rude!
