4:56 am Bangkok
A city that truly never sleeps, where half the women are really men (in drag) and even the local Shell station turns into a bar at night. These Thais know how to party like it's 1999- all the time.
Came here after the clubs let out, to catch up on three months of missed blogs. Oh shoot. FOUR months of missed blogs. I know, I'm the worst blogger ever. It's now or never, but I'm getting pretty sleepy, so it might just be never. Still wearing the glow bracelet from the club on my left hand. Ha. Tomorrow night I'm off to Laos for a month, which the digital revolution apparently missed along with paved roads and cell phones. This will be the least developed country I have ever visisted- and therefore, I'll be walking the least trodden path before me. I'll be there in less than 20 hours. Maybe it's about time I open my guidebook?
This day in Bangkok was probably not the best way to get readjusted to the real world after that 10-day silent meditation retreat. In a 24 hour period went from hearing my voice crack after a week without use, eating the super-healthy morning gruel and walking barefoot at 4am in silent meditation one day to flailing about on the dance floor to bass pounding my ears, slamming down an ice cream sundae, and downing a couple coffees to keep the night going on the next. And instead of WAKING UP at 4am, here I am, writing you. So much for 5am yoga sessions and constantly practicing mindfulness and modesty!
Will write when I can, but who knows when that will be. I like it this way. :)
Quote of the day:
"Take me
I'm a dead fish
I'm yours!"
(Dinner with Yo-Yo, cool chick from the retreat)
