Well, we're back in Yangon. 16 hours on a bus, and we covered about 426 miles. I'll let you do the math on average speed and what that says about the roads here. Fortunately, there was a TV on board. Unfortunately, the bus crew played Burmese music videos for the first 6 hours. You have no idea what a little slice of hell that is until you've experienced it. Add to that two breakdowns, one sideswiped cargo truck, one night time crossing of the scariest bridge I've ever seen, one off road adventure across a dry riverbed (apparently to avoid an even scarier bridge), and the three guys at the rest stop who took away my Star Cola and insisted I share their beer, and it was an interesting trip. For me at least. I couldn't sleep but the last 4 or 5 hours, while Karen pulled her determined sleeper routine again and missed all the fun.

Not much else to tell. We've got our tickets for Bangkok, land of the Big Mac and Subway, and both feel torn about leaving. We've both really loved it here, but are missing the comforts and conveniences of the western world. So we'll be in Bangkok tomorrow, followed by some well deserved beach time in the south of Thailand, somewhere not to far from the Similan Islands.

As they say here in Myanmar, tata.
