One of the great things about traveling for so long is being able to explore towns that you wouldn't think you would get to see. St. Raphael is a place we heard is quintessential French Riviera with beautiful women and beaches. We arrived without a place to stay and after wandering around for 45 minutes checking into hotel after hotel, we still didn't have a place to stay for less than 40 Euros a night. Then, when we were about to give up, we stop into a small hotel and get a room for 22 Euros a night WITH A FAN and a view of the ocean. How sweet is that?
We checked in our bags and explored the little town. It reminded us a lot of Biarritz and we knew we would like it immediately. It is clean and small, which is the exact opposite of Marseille and was a welcome stop to help us relax after the big city. We sun bathed on the beach surrounded by the most beautiful(mostly topless) women and then went out for a cheap dinner of Donner Kabbop. Not much beating a cheap Donner.
After dinner we went out for a couple of beers and again, good things just happened. We went to the casino and played a crazy game called Boule which is similar to roulette but with a big rubber ball and only 9 numbers. We both won, which instantly made a good night. Then we went out for a couple of more drinks and were just people watching when a hot French women comes up and asks if her two friends can join us. "Well, if you must" was our response. We spent the night hanging out with them and then went swimming in the Mediterranean at 4 in the morning. Not the most sober moments of my life but we had such a good time that even the wet shorts and shivers didn't make me regret the late night swim.
We woke up the next morning not feeling the best but we made our way out the door and to the train station to catch our train at 10 to Nice.
