Well, I made it back home safely to Seattle. Now for the adjustment. The first morning I woke up it took me several minutes to figure out where I was. Five mornings in a row now.
I hope you've enjoyed the travelogues. I'm glad that others can benefit from my experiences. Some of you have commented that you're envious of my freedom to go on a trip like this. I do feel fortunate. For me it's life altering to travel overseas and experience other cultures. There's also a flip side. I'm envious of you that can make long-term relationships work. My resignation in that area is part of the reason I travel.
It's kind of funny what you stumble across when you travel. I had no idea when I took my first international trip. Two years ago, I flew to Tanzania to visit my sister Sarah. Through her work in the Peace Corps, she knew the language, the culture, how to get around, etc... I got to see more than 99.9% of the tourists there. When it comes to getting to know the locals and their culture, I learned from a pro. I owe her a little thanks for opening my eyes beyond the tourist route.
