Before staying in San Francisco we headed north to visit Marin County, where mountain biking began (and Amy's brother once lived). It’s a beautiful place, it was quite chilly on Stinson Beach and we were impressed with the number of people playing beach games- rugby, frisbee, swimming (despite the temperatures). Good on them!

We sat and admired the activities it was particularly amusing when the seagulls pinched a guys keys. He went crazy shouting at the seagulls and then spent ages searching through the sand. Thirty minutes later he found them and he was so delighted he jumped in the air and shouted 'screw you seagulls’ – it was hilarious!

Following this, we headed up Mount Tamalpai, hoping to get above the cloud and the views would get better, and they did! Above the cloud the sun was shining and we went on a really lovely woodland walk in Muir Wood, home to redwood trees (the tallest trees in the world).
