Arriving in Adelaide we were so excited to see Lottie & Antos (James's sister and fiancée). It had been a year since we had last saw them and we now had 4 whole weeks to hang out with them…we couldn’t wait! The icing on the cake was that it conveniently coincided with the world cup!

So….the world cup party began with a road trip an hour north to Victor Habour to stay at Antos’s parents caravan. We wasted no time putting a bbq together and making ourselves comfy with a few beers and the world cup opening ceremony.

The following morning we had breakfast (on the bbq) before setting off for an afternoon’s surfing. The waves were breaking pretty evenly so after a few tips off the experts (Antos & Lot) we got straight out there. A few hours later and feeling pretty refreshed, we dried off, warmed up with a green tea and travelled back via the scenic route to go kangaroo spotting…and that we did - just when we thought our luck was out there it was bouncing across the road right in front of us – our first kangaroo sighting!

The evenings events took a dramatic turn when a trip to the campsites shower block turned into a full night in casualty! We headed to the showers and en-route came across the famous bouncy pillow (a trampoline built into the ground). Feeling inspired by the kangaroos we couldn’t resist a go…before we new it we were performing handstands, back flips, front flips….but then you guessed it - one wrong landing and Amy had seriously damaged her back! The story is long but the jist of it is - an ambulance, a neck brace, lots of strong pain relief, spinal x-rays, an England match (watched by James, Lot & Antos in the hospital) and a very long wait!

It was early hours in the morning before we were finally met by a doctor who explained that the x-rays were all clear and that the lower lumbar spine had been had damaged but all being well, given lots of painkillers, rest and a bit of time he explained that it should all get back to normal. Relief does not even begin to describe the emotions .....legs never to be taken for granted ever again!

Not quite the world cup party we had expected but in the end pretty good results all round!
