We realized that we will not find a job in our profession (IT) in Gold Coast. At least it will be much more difficult and time consuming. We stayed in Gold Coast Holiday Park in Helensvale. The park was renovated recently and we could enjoy a new swimming complex with a big round pool, a children pool and a hot spa. It was a good starting point where from I could go to Brisbane for job interviews or we could drive around and see all Gold Coast attractions.

The Gold Coast area is not only famous from its beaches, numerous canals or theme parks but also there is Hinterland. Gold Coast Hinterland is made up of the spectacular McPherson Range which offers plenty of walking trails and some truly amazing scenery. Going for a drive through a patchwork of rural plantations, vineyards, farmland and livestock estates on the way to more than 100,000 hectares of National Parks and reserves, networked with miles of enchanting bushwalking trails is just amazing. Quiet country roads, just 30 minutes from the beaches, lead into canyons and valleys with their hidden secrets of natural wonders. Also, there are beautiful, green suburbs with reasonable cheap land. Honestly it is a wonderland. But, for us it will stay as a dream for future. We drove a loop through Mount Tamborine where we visited a Polish place and had lunch. The view from the restaurant was stunning.

Obviously being in Gold Coast we could not miss going to the theme parks. So, we purchased a yearly ticket to The Worlds (DreamWorld and WhiteWater) and wherever we had opportunity we went there and spent some good time.

During our stay we got lucky as there was a sand sculpture exhibition in Surface Paradise. Obviously we went and could see what amazing sculptures artists can make from sand. I think there were at least 12 sculptures and the main topic was pirates so every sculpture depicted some pirate scene.

On the way back, we drove up to the jetty in Phillip Park to see some fishing spots for the future. Indeed, fishermen were there and some even with a good catch. It is a very popular place and worthwhile visiting next time. We drove around through famous suburbs like Southport, Biggera Waters or Paradise Point to see how people live and believe me many live in a luxury. In some places, a standard is to have a house at the canal and nice and big boat. The only ongoing problem is crime that is not controlled enough. We heard that some people had been robbed three times in a quarter. That is really bad and scary. I think it is due to the ongoing tourism boost and population growth. Gold Coast is not like a small country town anymore. It is a boosting tourist business where anonymity is the way to live and this anonymity makes the burglars going on.

Our visit to Gold Coast was no the first time. We have been here in the past twice. This time though, we looked from different perspective. It supposed to be our home or if not Gold Coast than Brisbane for sure. It was not a holiday touch anymore; we had to consider it as a place to live and raise Nell.

It is now the 20th of February. We both got jobs in Brisbane. Ridiculously and lucky Kasha found her job after first application. She only applied for one job and she got it. Considering I have applied for at least 20 jobs she was extremely lucky. Now we are moving to Brisbane – our new city. New City – New life. We will see how we go …
