… And finally died.
We were going to Perth from Cervantes and it was only 200 km. Normally I do a fuel backup in my sub tank or additional canisters, but this time I thought it was so close to Perth that many petrol stations will be on the way. Nothing more wrong. We got passed Lancelin and Ledge Point when I realised that it might not be enough to get to the next station. We decided to come back to Ledge Point 20 km to fuel up. It was good decision but after fuelling the car died. We could not start it, and we block the only distributor in this small town. The station owner was little frustrated but together with two other guys they got an idea:
'Hey mate, there is a big slope behind the corner so we will push you and you start the engine.
‘But if I do not start, the whole three tones might go down to the ocean and this will be end of the story?' – I said. ‘
Then, they reflected themselves and understood it was not such a good idea. Instead, they pushed my car as it was standing on a little slope at the distributor and there you go, it had started, we could go further. I shook their hands as the appreciation for what they had done and we left.
We drove straight ahead to Coromel for service (without turning off the ignition) and then we dropped the car at Nissan (we had a booking for next day). Next day we realised how much damage we had to undertake…
