Where I stayed
Lighthouse Caravan Park
Lighthouse Caravan Park was one of the weirdest places so far. It is situated next to the beach, at the bottom of the lighthouse. We did not find many tourists like us, people with children. The park was occupied by elderlies who lived there for long time (2 months to 1 year). The weird thing was that in many sites they put Australian flags with a text 'If you do not like it – live it'. We did not find it welcoming but anyway we stayed for three nights as the beach was close and we could go swimming or fishing.
The best attraction around is Cape Range National Park with its famous snorkelling. They charge $11 daily pass to get to the park. There are beautiful camping sites located next to the beach (90 sites) but they were all booked and we could not stay there. The only possible way was to get up early in the morning and queue at the park entrance between 6am and 8am – the earlier the better. Our idea was to do that but due to our car start up problem we dropped that idea. Only, we drove up to Turquoise Bay where Kasha enjoyed snorkelling. Also, we saw Visitor Centre and some camping sites to have an idea for the future if we want to come back. The park is beautiful place in terms of swimming, snorkelling and fishing. The surroundings are pretty ugly, there are no trees, the land is empty and the only good view is to the ranges on the top. It was a pity we did not see everything in the park, but we could not. Maybe one day in the future…
