Hi everyone! Happy Thanksgiving, a day late. It was very strange yesterday because it didn't really feel like Thanksgiving, but I knew it was going on at home without me. I am so thankful that my siblings were here with me. I'm thankful that I am here.... thankful that I heard that little whisper a year ago at the overseas meetings, the one that told me to be learn more about Kenya.... I'm also thankful for all of you.... Thank you for your support, your messages and your help. It means the world to me...

We had a really good week. Tuesday the boys played soccer with some of the kids and we brought over some jump ropes. It was a hit. Tuesday night we had Thanksgiving dinner. A little early, I know. But one of the girls here organized a Thanksgiving buffet at a restaurant. She cooked for like 45 of us. There was turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, rolls, sweet potatoes... and PIE! It was sort of bittersweet. It was awesome to have our own little Thanksgiving so far from home, but it made me miss home. After dinner we went out with everyone for a little while. It was fun...

Wednesday was the big graduation day at school. It was great. The kids were so excited. It was also a great opportunity to finally meet some of my students' parents. The kids all sang and danced. It was so adorable. I was so happy my family got to see it. After I gathered all my kids in the room and gave them a little gift. Thanks to Ana (and Mom), I had really great bracelets to give to each student with some candy and pencils. They were SOO excited! They kept thanking me and were so happy. It was great. Saying goodbye to them was really sad. I will really miss them. I wish they knew how much they have impacted me and my life. I will see a lot of them around the village, I think.

Yesterday we went to Kisumu. I said I wasn't going back there, but we did! They wanted to go to the market and of course, I got more stuff I didn't need. But I love it all!! Stallone went with us. It was a good day. They got better and better at bartering as the day went on...

I can't believe this week went by so fast. This morning I went with them to the bus station to say goodbye. It was really hard. I wish they could have been here longer and seen more. But I am really grateful they could come at all. It is something so amazing that the four of us will always share and I am really happy about that.

This weekend we are going to go to a wedding with the family. I think that will be really fun to see. One month from today I will be heading home myself. It is so crazy how quickly this is going by....

I love you and miss you all. I hope everyone's Thanksgiving was great and you all ate a lot in honor of me :)

Happy Thanksgiving!
Hi Erin: When we went to Gram's yesterday, you were on the phone with your Mom. It's great that you two get to talk as often as you do! Although this hasn't happened in MANY years, everyone actually fit in the dining room! Just like when Ryan and Mandi were babies! There was a bunch of leftovers for Ryan, Courtney and Alex just waiting in the 'fridge for their return. (I'm sure your favorites will be spread out when you come home!)
Today is Black Friday! Shopppers were out in full force here. The big deal here is the Wii this year and it's pretty hard to get...unless you camp out at a store like I did last night!
The leaves have covered the ground for a few weeks and last night there was enough snow (at least at our house) to cover the ground. Our puppy doesns't care to step in this wet snow!
Laura wants to know if there is anywhere around there that the kids can go and see snow or if it is just like summer everyday?
Be strong for the next part of your journey! You will want to bring the children, you are about to meet, home.
Take care and God bless. Stay safe.
Love you, Aunt Kathy

hey erin! Thanks giving at the breen's was great---we were thinking of you though. Sounds as though everything is going great there. I will be mailing 4 boxes today---we collected school supplies here at our Junior high and the kids were very generous. Yoiu can only mail certain size boxes so I had to divide evrything up. Hopefully they will get to you in one piece and not take too long!! Take care and enjoy the rest of the time there---can you believe that you are half way through? Love ya lots, aunt bunny

Hi Erin,
It has been awhile since I have been on. I am so happy you are having such a wonderful experience! I hope you received the box that my kids and I sent. They were so excited to pack everything for the kids, you and also the teacher. We love looking at the pictures. They keep bugging me to see if you go the box yet, so please let me know when you do. Give the family a kiss from me.
love you all, Aunt Karen
