Just got back from Sorrento for the weekend. I can't believe how lucky we are getting with the weather since it is mid-october and everything, but it was beautiful once again! We left around 4pm on thursday, drove 6 1/2 hours on a bus (ugh) and arrived to the campsite we stayed at around 11. The hotel had planned on serving us pizza when we got there around 10, but we ended up getting there later than expected so we didn't eat until midnight once the pizza's were all made and served. Late dinner, but delicious of course.

The next day we went to the Almalfi coast by a boat that ended up taking 2 hours! It was a nice day out, though, so I was happy to be sailing on the sea. We took a hike through some old paper mills in the woods of the coast and enjoyed the view from the top. It was cool because there were so many vineyards and lemon trees everywhere. Then we hung out on the beach, ate gelato, and headed back to Sorrento on a much bumpier boat ride than we had on the way there. We went into town for dinner (had some really good gnocchi) and then went to bed.

Saturday morning we got up early and took a ferry over to the island of Capri. It was SUCH a nice day on saturday so everyone was in a good mood. We visited the various towns that are in Capri for the first half of the day then we went to the famous Blue Grotto. It was sooo cool, unfortunately my camera is broken or I would have taken many pictures. I'll steal some from friends and post them on here though. It is this cave that is filled with natural light from the sun and it lights up the water under the cave so it literally glows. It was amazinggg. You take a paddle boat in from an Italian man (only 3-4 people can go in one boat) and you enter the actual grotto through this really small hole so everyone (including the rower) has to lay flat down in the boat. It was quite an experience but so much fun. I would definitely recommend it to everyone! Then we had some lunch, layed on the beach, and went back to Sorrento for the night.

We left from Sorrento this morning at 8:30am to visit the city of Pompei where Mt. Vosuvius erupted a long time ago and demolished everything. It was really cool, we walked around everywhere and saw all the old buildings and colleseums. It was just really hot out so everyone got kind of grumpy towards the last thirty minutes. The Pope was actually in Pompei as well today, so there were over 40,000 people where he was giving mass. We didn't go since it was so crazy but it was cool just to be in the same city as him! Then we took the long bus ride back to Florence and here we are now! It was a great weekend, somewhere I'd definitely like to go back and spend more time at someday!
