I took it easy again today and didnt leave the hostel until the afternoon. It is swelteringly hot here and you cant move without sweat pouring off you. Pleasant huh? So I had a walk up Andrassy utca to Heroes Square with one the girls from my dorm room today, a really nice Aussie doctor called Deepa. It was good to have a bit of company actually and have a right old natter, although it was a bit odd having to remember to wait for someone else when stopping to look at things and take pictures! So Andrassy ut. is meant to be kind of equivalent to the Champs Elysee and I guess it is quite imposing - lots of v grand buildings which I think are mostly occupied by embassies and the like. Heroes square has a whole bunch of statues of suprise, suprise Hungarian heroes, and then there is a park behind it which we had a nice sit down in. I was going to go the Transport musuem that was there in the park and Deepa went off to the Terror Museum, but then I found that the museum was just planes and stuff, I thought it was meant to have stuff about the Metro system - as some of you may know I'm a tube geek - but that's in a separate museum. So I went back to the hostel and chilled out again. Went to find this veggy restaurant which, unlike the one i tried to find yesterday, was open! yay! the food was pretty good although if a greek person actually saw what was meant to be a lentil moussaka they would call trading standards. putting a few slices of aubergine ontop of a potato and lentil stew does not make it a moussaka though it was tasty enough all the same. another early night...
