Where I stayed
We arrived here having left Auckland, New Zealand, at 5pm on Monday the 17th May, flew 12 hours to be in Santiago at 12pm on Monday 17th May!
Talk about messing with our body clocks, itīs the only chance Iīve ever had of going back in time!
Needless to say we slept...a lot!! So we canīt say that we did an awful lot here apart from dandering around downtown Santiago. The plaza de armas was a really nice sight and the main area of the city was very safe and cosmopolitan. It also had one of the most efficient metro systems we've ever been on.
But part of our main aim here was to plan our trip to Lima and were given two delightful options by our jovial customer service representative:
1. A 50 hour bus with 3 stops over the entire journey, straight to Lima;
2. A 30 hour bus to Arica, a desert town in northern Chile
mmm...decisions...decisions...decisions...
Thankfully we only even had these options due to Eoin's Spanish, I get the feeling South America does not cater for the Englisg speaking tourist...which I might add is a good thing!
Unfortunately we have yet to muster up the courage and bring a camera out as we're already too gringo for this place!
