Another trip outside of London to Oxford today. Compared to Cambridge it was much busier and whilst there were plenty of people visiting the colleges there were just as many people shopping in the main street and shopping centres. Cambridge had felt like the city was built around the colleges, whereas in Oxford the town was just as prominent as the colleges. From the train station I walked to the high street and after looking in the shops spent some time in the Ashmolean Museum. I then walked along a path I had drawn on my map past all the churches and colleges and ending at Christ Church which was the filming location for the Great Hall in Harry Potter. I ate my lunch in the gardens and had a look at the market and shopping centre before I headed home. Like Cambridge the buildings were really impressive but it was still not quite what I had expected. Maybe being summer and classes not being on had something to do with the feel of the town but all in all it was nice to visit.
