I have to say the scenery on the way here was impressive, volcanoes all the way. if I'd had more time I would have visited Mount St. Helens and the National Parks.
But one day showed me that the city of Portland is nothing special. There's nothing here that I haven't done before....Chinese Classical Garden, Japanese Tea Gardens, zoos. In place of any landmarks, I went shopping. I visted Powells, the largest bookstore in the US, and Diamond Dogs, a punk clothing store.
Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures of Portland, as there is a distinct lack of national landmarks.
My time in Portland was also marred by the news that my credit card had been fradulently used. i spent half the day on the phone to my bank back in the UK trying to work out what happened. It turns out that it was used here in Portland, which is weird as I've not used it here at all. Where did they get my number from? Strange....
