On Friday, I met up with Tracy, who'd I'd met in Hollywood. It was nice to have someone to explore with, although it didn't make Las Vegas a nice place to be. Tracy had a similar experience with the hostel as me, so we spent the day seeing the sights and slagging off Las Vegas. We spent a lot of time in the casinos today, as Tracy really knows what she's doing, she used to be a gambling addict, yikes. I won 68c in New York New York, Tracy won quite a bit more...but then gambled it back to her original $20 investment, eventually breaking even. We saw the Mirage Volcano, which 'erupts' every 15 minutes, and the famous fountains of Bellagio, choreographed to Frank Sinatra.

In the evening, we set off for downtown to see the Fremont Street Experience, a pedestrian area covered by a ceiling of 90ft high frame of lightbulbs. Every hour is a seven minute light show accompanied by music. This was similar to my preconceptions of Las Vegas, lots of neon and flashing lights. I have to say Las Vegas is an evening place - I wonder if my impression of Vegas would have been different had I experienced the night version more than the day version. The location of my hostel had made this impossible, there was no way I could get back safely in the evening so I always had to leave the Strip before sunset. What a shame.
